Description

The Georgia State Physical Activity Funding Opportunity supports the implementation of local, regional, and state-level plans to improve access to safe, activity-friendly routes to everyday destinations. Applicants must demonstrate how their proposed initiatives will measurably increase access to these routes within their communities.

Eligible Projects

Implementation of existing plans, such as:

  • Safety action plans
  • Comprehensive plans
  • Neighborhood, subarea, and/or corridor plans
  • Parks and Recreation plans
  • Trail plans
  • Statewide active transportation plans
  • Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIPs)
  • Other relevant plans that cover the applicant’s jurisdiction and have direct influence on the availability of active routes and/or destinations

Best Practices

To be considered for funding, applicants must:

  • Identify an existing plan that applies to their community.
  • Explain how that plan supports safe, activity-friendly routes.
  • Identify the specific goal or action in the plan that they will work on.
  • Describe how they will use the funding over the next year, including:
    • The steps you’ll take
    • The results you expect to achieve
